Meet the Aunties

Alofa Family!

I am a proud member of this great family. My mother is Fa'aliliu (Aunty Liu), youngest daughter of Papa Tinei and Grandma Nele Leiataua. Papa Tinei was the 5th son of Grandpa Saimasina and Grandma Tui.

Several months ago, our dear cousin Namele Baker called me out of the clear blue, though we hadn't spoken in many years. Over the course of several hours we laughed, we cried, and then laughed a lot more. We reminisced about our younger life with our parents and countless family members of that generation, and almost at the same time we knew we had to somehow memorialize these special and unique family stories. A plan was formulated to utilize the technology we have at our fingertips to include other family members in this process.

This will be an interactive platform which allows everyone to participate. I'm so excited to get this project going and hope you enjoy these videos and share them with others.

With Alofa, Vicki.

Back in March of 2024, Auntie Vickie and I were catching up with one another and talking about old family stories. She had her version and I had mine about the same thing. That just made us laugh harder. We come from a rich history of warriors, pioneers and troublemakers. Lol! We are fortunate to be the last generation to talk with them. We are the last generation to hear these stories first hand. As Vickie and I continued our conversation, it dawned on us, if we don't share this with you, who will?  All that wonderful history, all those colorful tales will be forever lost or worse, what is left is a distored version filled with half truths. We want to leave you with more than that.

I hope you find these stories engaging and that they instill in you a desire to know more about your genealogy. You come from such an amazing and loving family. I hope you continue to be proud of that.
