Hi Family, Thankfully we have finally connected as we have been looking for the updated page for a while. Gutted that we will not make reunion as we just found out about it LOL and also my father turns 70 this year. We are from the Alapate Tuipelehake - Kipeni bloodline and my grandfather was Siaifa Uipa Su\'a. I married a Tongan and visited Tonga for the first time and was able to see the Tuipelehake home but sadly apparently very hard to get into the royal palace to do some genealogy work. I hope to stay connected on here for the next reunion as we would really love to attend. Love you all

Malo soifua and kia ora from Aotearoa (NZ)!

I am a direct descendant of Fagatapu the sister of Emosi or Saimasina.
My mother is Mao.  Her mother is Itea.  Itea's father is Fa'alili.  Fa'alili's mother is Mao (my mums namesake) which Mao is the daughter of Fagatapu.
I live in Auckland, NZ and I'm married and have a 2 yr old daughter Mansine Maoimealelei after her grandmother and great great great grandmother.

From what I can gather this page and reunion are mainly descendants of Saimasina.  However our common ancestors are Tuipelehake and Taiana Sua.

I would love to learn more of Fagatapu and her descendants so if you have any information and are willing to share I would love to hear from you and make family connections.

All the very best with the reunion preparations and keep up the great work.  This page is as they say in the land down under "sweet as"!  It's all about about fulfilling Moses 1:39 because..."E fa'avavau aiga".

I have to share a cute story with you - Mike and I attended a Hoolaule\'a this past weekend at the Calif. Hotel and were at a Samoan booth.  I was listening to the two Chinese looking vendors just chatting away with some customers in Samoan and whispered to Mike to look at the Chinese ladies speaking Samoan.  He was very impressed.  After buying a comb from them, as we started to walk away, I thought I\'d surprise them, because I knew they didn\'t know I was Samoan, by saying, "Faafetai!"   Most of the time people think I\'m either a portugee or italian, sometimes part Haw\'n but never has anyone every guessed Samoan.  There\'s just too few of us.

Anyway, their reaction was "surprise" and then they asked me, in Samoan, if I was Samoan, so (at least I understood that much) so I said, "Afa" and smiled and started to walk away, and one of them followed me and was still asking me a question.  At this point, I wasn\'t sure what she was asking, but I figured she was probably asking who my family was......this is the good part......after I said, "Suapaia," she said, "Oh, you are from the SINGING family!".

Linette, I have never heard that description of our family before, and as I walked away, I said to Mike, "did you hear that?  She said I was from the singing family!"  And then I started to bawl.  I thought it was such a beautiful description of us.  Growing up, I used to think we were the "fighting" family.

Anyway, from now on I am going to say I come from the "singing" family.  And smile.

Yipee kai yeaaaa!  Oh, I mean, oka oka fefe!  :)

Sifou < Mulu < Tavita < Sisi\'imoana Lupi < Gwen

Hello, I\'m from American Samoa and was wondering how the reunion went. Most of the su\'apa\'ia family that was descendent from Sifou are all in New Zealand and Australia, thats why most of us did not make it to the reunion, but we do hope to be at the next reunion.

Back in the days, Sifou, the youngest child (male) stayed behind in Savaii and the rest was sent to the mainland to get a better future. I do hope that one day the reunion will be held in Savaii.

I want to encourage our children Justin & Melissa in Pleasant Grove, UT and Natasha & Gene in St. George, UT to assist where they can with the UTAH 2012 Su’apa’ia Family Reunion Committee. You Go Utah Committee….!!!!

I wanted to thank the reunion committee for all of their hard work.  We had so much fun reminiscing with those we hadn't seen in quite some time and meeting those we had not met before.  The reunion has re-ignited my interest in the family geneology.  I find myself searching on a daily basis!  Eventually I hope to be able to share all of my information with everyone.  To be sure that I have everyone's accurate information, I'd appreciate any information and pictures be sent to my email address for inclusion.  A special thanks to Cousin Nettie for all of her hard work on putting the geneology book together.  As soon as I can get a copy, I'm sure that will be very helpful!

Let's stay in touch and not wait until the next reunion to talk to one another!

A loving hello to my father, Kipeni Simaile Lutu, family.  I am the oldest and only sister to Leroy, Eric & Frank Lutu of Washington State.  I have been searching for a connection to my Lutu heritage for quite sometime.  With the divorce of my parents, I followed the path with my mother, Mary Lutu Dubois to the southern part of the USA.  I now reside in Hemphill, Texas with my husband and 2 remaining daughters at home (Christina 17 & Brandy 11).  My oldest daughter, Malia, 27, is married to a wonderful man and has blessed me with 3 grandsons.

It was exciting to see the many photos of my family, brother Leroy, and nephew Leroy Jr.  I will bookmark this site and continue to keep a hold of my longing desire for my Polynesian roots and family.

I would enjoy hearing from my auntie's and uncles if this site can provide that for me and my family here in the states.

Love & God Bless,
Starr Lutu Gentry

Hi everyone,

I just wanna say I had so much fun at the Su'apa'ia family reunion. Learned a whole bunch about this big family I hadn't known before and I see that as very important because before you can go somewhere in life you have to know where you came from. There were many faces I have never seen before this weekend at the reunion and I loved it.  Hopefully we can stay in contanct. I love everyone

Talofa Su'a Family,

My name is Sa Tanielu I am one of six children of the late Mafuli Su'a Tanielu. I just wanted to stop by and say hi as well. Ever since the passing of our mother we lost communication with alot of you. I wish we never lost touch but due to the unfortunate circumstance of loosing our mother I believe it was the same time we lost touch with our Su'a family . I am thankful for facebook and to Ricki Liufau I was able to get this web address and was able to look at how big the family is and how much you all have grown. I heard some rumors about this years reunion months ago but didn't realize it was this week. Now that I know, I am looking forward to letting my family know so we can try to make it to one of the nights to meet everyone.

much alofa's,

At least my cousin Iese Esera will attend to represent us from the Salatielu side. God willing, the next re-union we'll be there in force. Hi Family,
pain
Just an update on us here in Spain. We just got back from Greece, being on hoilday and it was truly wonderful. We have a sailboat there and I am sure your asking yourself why not in Spain? Well that is easy because Greece has so many Islands to see. You can stop on some and others not but in all it has a rich history as well and the sea is so clear you can see so many feet down. Something I remember having in Hawaii when i was a kid. The food is good but mind you after a week you are need something new LOL. In all we had a great and was great to see our good friends again. Well I am off and hopes everyone is well and in good health. take care and god bless. Smooches

Aloha Family!  We are looking forward to seeing everyone in California in a couple of weeks.  I was serving a mission in Guatemala during the last reunion and really felt like I missed out when I returned home and heard all of the stories from my sisters.  I vowed then to make sure I attended the next Su'apa'ia reunion.  Who knew I would have to wait so long for this great event!!!  My lineage is Alamoni, Liva, Talive.  I am married to Te'e Masaniai and we have 3 children, Malieo Elaine, Te'e and Tinei. hhhhmmmm..........many of kudos to google.com  that tackled my curiousity at http://www.suapaiafamilyreunion2009.com it was reason enough after typing my first name with results of 3 pulusila's; took another chance, typed my mother's first name and maiden name filiaga - that alone continued my search that intensified my curiousity - 4 results transmitted my search of maria filiaga (maria is mother's name) that led me to his site!!!!

thanks to maria filiaga listed on the guest book with her message.....that concluded my curiousity concerning the origin of my first name (maria filiaga listed on this guest book list of which I am assuming is my aunt - my mother's name is maria as well)

i have spoken to aunty logo and uncle aiva via telephone once in the past - unfortunately with limited time on my hands i was unable to meet her or any of the filiaga family....mother rarely speaks of the filiaga side - i've questioned it in the past - unsure of which manner at how to approach that side of the family - i've never met my grandfather or any of his family - i am named after grandfather - but unfortunately and sadly enough i never met him !!!!

amazing at how one can identify let alone quantify the origin or root of a name by the split second of a click on the world wide web....now that i have identified the existence of my name....i would want now to absorb the root and branches of my name "pulusila" - thank you!!!

**** Hello all my name is Pulusila; Brooklyn, New York is my home - I travel 5 times out of the year - It is a must at the last leg of my travels I visit Hawaii the ending of every year and spend the last 3 months of every year in Hawaii.

I am a freelance journalist - my niche is history and religion. As a surprise I am currently working with a partner on disecting and identifying the translation of the bible from it's original precepts and form from the hebrew language to the english language - considering that religion is a powerful force and belief with this family - this is not only a surprise but a coincidence *i'm completely stoked* !!!!!

Now considering that a freelance journalist does not please the means of my financial burdens at times; i am also a public accountant.

**** I am filled with excitement as I write this!!! I do have the tendency to steer off subject when filled with excitement......I'f you have any questions feel free to email me at anytime!!!

A little bit more about me. I am identified and observed at by different people with different definitions as to how they merit my stature. Some convoluted; some well reserved - for the most part scathing. Mother would always say that I am stubborn - Mother is mother and I love her dearly. I am free spirited Pulusila; soulfully and desireably I enjoy it and live it happily that way :-)
Mother would spramp comments at how I am the image of grandfather Pulusila. I obviously wouldn't know; yet that remains to be seen or told by others besides mother.

I do hope to meet many of you real soon.

I do wish you all a blessed thanksgiving and holiday filled with tales of love with family for family and generations of happiness and humility.

Thank you

Hi Su'apa'ia Family, I don't believe any of you would know me, but I did learn from my father at a very young age that we are related to the Su'apa'ias or Su'as as they are now commonly known.  I am the youngest daughter of Ta'aluava'a Fiso & Iolesina Pouli Fiso.  I grew up in Aua, Am Sa, moved to NZ in 1985, and onward to Australia in 1999.  I am married with one child, a 12 yr old son we named Darhys Brigham.   My father's mother is Sefilina Tuipelehake, (grand daughter of Alipate & Taiana Tuipelehake),  his brothers are Puifatu, & Avefua, and his sisters are Fetineia'i Fiso Tauili'ili and Rosa Fiso Agavale.  All are now deceased except for uncle Avefua who still resides in American Fork, UT.  I came across your website by accident, however, I'm glad I did.  I associate with some of Tinei's descendants who live in Brisbane Australia.  Tinei's g/daughter Rosa Su'apa'ia Siteine lives 15 minutes away from me, and we attended the same ward when they first moved here from NZ, and later discovered we're family.  what a small world aye?  Anyway, i took that Family Jeopardy  quiz and got 8/10 which i thought was pretty good. :-)  My father had great knowledge of his genealogy, especially on his mother's Tongan side.  He kept record of his family history before he passed away in 1980, but the book went missing from our hands and to date, have no clue of its whereabouts.  Anyhow, hope one day I get to meet some of you if not all of you.  Keep up the great work whoever looks after this site, and good luck with the next reunion preps.

much luv, from OZ!

Talofa
I found this site through the ancestry boards site. I am related to Su'a Samuelu and Mesepa, Salatielu's children. Salatielu was also son of Saimasina. I am looking for any information on Malo, Saimasina's younger brother, who he married and his descendants etc, and was hoping someone here would be able to help me out. Look forward to hearing from anyone and all the best for your family reunion!

Cheers

The internet is so amazing. I may have found my Samoan heritage and possibility to learn more about my roots.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks namele for showing me where to go to see this beautiful website.  I'm hoping I can get in contact with family and any cousins I have not yet met..

I am the daughter of Afeleti & Nunu Su'a,  My father has a geneology which I saw and we originate from Kipeni.  the only Uncle I know but have not yet met is Murphy Su'apaia, my parents stayed with him when they flew over for murphy's fathers' funeral.

My dad's brother Pita Su'a is in California and I have other cousins and family there.  My father has been wanting to get in contact with Murphy but we're not sure if he is still in the same place.

I would really love to meet any cousins or aunties and uncle's I have not already met.

Lots of love

As if I need an introduction: Cheeehooo!

As you already know, I am Logotaeao (Filiaga) Atuaia's son. She punked me into registering, thus I obey.  Man, why wasn't I born Palagi--they don't have to deal with this sort of thing! Aghhhhhhh!

I guess the penny-pinching starts in preparation for next year's festivities.

In all seriousness, I am happy this is happening and I hope all continues to roll smoothly.

Talofa family from Los Angeles,
Isn't the website beautiful?  Namele has done a great job of organizing and bringing us all together to plan the big reunion.  The monthly meetings bring us closer together as the sweet spirit of our Heavenly Father and our ancestors guide our discussions and decisions.  As a family, we've grown so large that some of you are 4-5 generations from grandfather Saimasina and you've not had a chance to meet most of the extended family members.

Our LA family reunion planning meetings are full of tears, laughter and pure joy.  Oh, and great food too!  Last week we heard cousins Murphy (Kipeni) & Nina's story of how their son (Justin Utah) met a palagi man at a church training who said that his ancestor served on a mission in Western Samoa and knew Saimasina well.  His family has preserved the stories of Saimasina's faith and church work.  There are old journals and pictures of Saimasina.  We all cried with joy as we listened to the story.

So, that's why you don't won't to miss out!  See you next year!

Alofa tele...
